Bristol, WI – May 28, 2014. Bill and the B2 Motorsports crew headed south towards the Wisconsin/Illinois border this past Saturday for their second visit to the third-mile oval of the Wilmot Raceway to take on the competitors of the Interstate Racing Association. Bill would be the 26th car to take time of the thirty-two cars on hand laying down a lap fast enough for the 2nd quickest of the night. Setting himself up with a 6th place starting position of the 2nd heat race, Bill methodically made his way forward in the heat making his way into the 2nd place finishing position. With the quick qualifier not transferring through the heat race, Bill would draw for the feature invert pulling the #4 pill setting him up with an 8th place starting position. At the drop of the green Bill held his position for several laps until he finally found a line he was comfortable with and starting making his way to the front. Around the half-way point, Bill had reeled in leader Tommy Sexton and made his move under Sexton going into turn three and into the lead as Sexton would lose the handle of his car. Bill would maintain the lead the remainder of the way and pick up his first victory of the 2014 season ahead of Jordan Goldesberry and Bill Rose.
The team headed up Interstate 43 on Sunday to the unique shaped third mile facility of the 141 Speedway, a track in which Bill has won five of the last six of his visits. Bill would be the first car to hit the track for qualifying and would be quick-time for the duration. Lining up 6th in the heat race, Bill would move into the 5th position when the green flag flew and soon made his way into 4th where he would run until the last lap. Going into turn one he made his way under Jordan Goldesberry into 3rd and caught Brandon Thone going into turn three. Bill would head to the bottom of the track to make his way past, but came up just short of getting 2nd at the finish. By virtue of being quick-time, Bill once again drew for the feature invert which was the #2 pill setting him up with a 4th place starting position. Bill would slip back to 5th when the green flag flew, but quickly gained the position back as the top-4 cars pulled away from the rest of the field. On lap nine, Bill made his way past the #02 of Mike Reinke into the 3rd position before the caution flag would fly on lap 10. When the green flag was back out the top-4 once again pulled away from the field running in a tight bunch. On lap fourteen Bill made his way by leader Wayne Modjeski and Scotty Neitzel, but the pass was negated due to another caution. When racing resumed Bill followed the top-2 for two laps before making the same move he did earlier making his way past the leaders in turns one and two and into the lead. From that point Bill would pull away and cruise to his 2nd victory of the weekend and the season ahead of Mike Reinke and Scotty Thiel.
This weekend the team once again has a double-header on tap. First up is the high banked three-eighths mile oval of the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI for the 3rd Annual “Triple Crown” on Saturday, May 31st. Bill is the defending champion of this race as he bested Jim Moughan and Travis Whitney last year at this event. The following night, Sunday June 1st, Bill and the team will head south down Interstate 94 to the Angel Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI for the 1st Annual Norm Nelson Classic. This is the first time the IRA has visited the historic oval in twenty-nine years. Bill will be pulling double duty on Sunday night as he will pilot the B2 Motorsports 17B sprinter in the IRA portion and he will also pilot the Lein Acres #2 midget in the Badger Midgets portion. The following weekend, Bill and the team will head back for their third visit to the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI on Saturday June 7th. Bill has finished 3rd and 4th in the last two visits to the facility.
