On the warmest day of the 2014 racing season Jeremy Shultz took his 5J sprint car down to Wilmot Raceway for the Bumper to Bumper IRA sprint car series. The night would start with Jeremy drawing a 41 pill and he would go out to qualify 21st out of 32 cars. After qualifying, Jeremy would end up in a great spot qualifying fifth which would put him inside third row of the first heat.
The heat would prove to be a tough one. Several good cars would start in front of him. Jeremy would end up 5th in the heat, struggling with a brake issue. Jeremy would have to come from the B-Main to make the feature.
After starting third in the B-Main, the 5J would get in an altercation with another car on the first lap. He would be taken to the work area. After people from several teams helped get Jeremy back out on the track he would come from the back and end up third which would allow him to transfer into the feature.
.
Starting deep in the field at 19th, Jeremy would go to work on the high side and begin passing cars. After a couple of cautions a run of green flag laps would allow Jeremy to pass multiple cars. Brakes were working and when the dust settled Jeremy would end up 7th.
Sherm Nation's thoughts and prayers go out to Mike Decker for a speedy recovery.
