"Jimmy (Scanlon) is a tough racer and was a lot of fun to run with," said Jimmy Kouba of Byron, Minnesota after his second Meyer Valves & Vacs Wingless Sprint Series presented by the IRA 20-lap feature win at Wilmot this season. "Then at the end, I knew Doug (Schenck) was coming and it was wild went it got three wide. It's fun running here at Wilmot. The fans, staff, fellow drivers, everybody treats us so well it makes the trip worth it."
Scanlon and Jimmy Kouba kept trading the top spot numerous times throughout the early going. Following a late caution defending Wilmot champion Doug Schenck of Cottage Grove pulled briefly alongside Jimmy Kouba. Jake Kouba of Minneapolis, MN, the winner's son, went side by side with the top three briefly going three-wide during the final laps. At the finish it was podium finishes for Jimmy Kouba first, Schenck second and Jake Kouba third. Derek Crane of Waukegan, Illinois was fourth with Wilmot point leader Todd Lehr of Genoa City fifth.
"That was a lot of fun," said Schenck. "The car ran super and that was good clean racing with Jimmy and Jake."
"The track was in super shape," said Jake Kouba. "It's always fun to run with your dad like that."
