Inside Line Promotions – WILMOT, Wis. (July 15, 2019) – Tim Kaeding led Sides Motorsports to a top-five finish last Saturday at Wilmot Raceway during the Badger 40.
It was the best result during a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader for the team, which featured two cars both nights. The action began on Friday at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Mich., during the Battle of Michigan.
Kaeding set quick time during qualifying, placed second in a heat race, ended fourth in the dash and came home 12th in the main event after spending most of the race in the top five.
Jason Sides timed in third quickest during qualifying. He also finished second in a heat race before scoring a fifth-place outing in the dash. Sides capped the night with a 14th-place result in the feature.
“It started out great going quick time and third quick,” Sides said. “We both made the dash through our heat races and we swapped positions in the dash. He was pretty good and was hanging in there in the top five. On one of the restarts I got bombarded. It was like a hornets nest going into turn one. I got shuffled from seventh or eighth to 12th or 13th. Late in the race TK was running in the top 10 and blew a tire out so that one went by the wayside at Hartford.
“TK used a borrowed motor from Dave Lunstra. Dave was pretty happy with it setting quick time with the Outlaws so that was good.”
Both Kaeding and Sides returned to action on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway.
Kaeding qualified fifth quickest before he finished second in a heat race. He then ended fifth in both the dash and main event.
Sides timed in seventh quickest, finished fourth in a heat race and closed the night 15th in the feature.
“TK had another great run up front,” Sides said. “We were running eighth for the longest time. This one car came in and whacked me going into turn one and knocked me over the cushion. About four or five cars went by before I could get gathered back up so that cost us a top 10.”
Both Kaeding and Sides will compete this Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, during the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic and Wednesday through Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, during the Kings Royal.
