WILMOT RACEWAY ANNOUNCES “TENTATIVE” 2021 SCHEDULE
With the Daytona 500 fast approaching means the 2021 race season at the Kenosha County Fair’s Wilmot Raceway is coming fast too. With saying that, we are proud to announce our “TENTATIVE” 2021 schedule. Wilmot Raceway has a lot of big events jammed into just over months, and we have done our best to bring as many big events, featuring both national and regional racing series, to our wide third-mile as well as hosting some of the best local racers in the country, providing a wide variety of racing entertainment for our fans, sponsors, and racers. There is a lot of demand from various series, and different classes that want to race at Wilmot.
Wilmot has long been known as the home of Wisconsin sprint car racing, and Wilmot again hosts more 410 winged “outlaw” sprint car races than any other Wisconsin venue, hosting the World of Outlaws, the Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints on 4 occasions, and a co-sanctioned race with the Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions and Wisconsin’s sprint touring series, the IRA. No other Wisconsin track has both the World of Outlaws and All Stars. Wilmot Raceway is also the long-time home of Lightning Sprints (formerly known as Mini Sprints) and the IRA Lightning Sprints are the only group of its kind in Wisconsin and they’ll be appearing multiple times. In recent years, IRA in conjunction with Wilmot Raceway developed the AutoMeter Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints, and the growth of that idea has become one of the biggest success stories in the short track racing industry in recent years, and the class is a definite staple of Wilmot, being on the schedule on all but one date. New on the Sprint Car side this year will be an appearance by the winged MSA 360 Sprints, and while the group hasn’t been to Wilmot in several years, they hope to bring their large car count south, here to Wilmot, on a more annual basis.
The Modifieds are a big part of Wilmot Raceway. The “Mods” are on the schedule all but three nights, providing fans some of the fiercest racing upfront they will find anywhere, and Wilmot is proud to have them as a weekly fixture.
Wilmot Street Stocks race under the “United” rules package and Wilmot grown teams have proven to be some of the fastest in the state. The Bandit class grew substantially last year, providing some great racing, and bringing fun to the track each appearance. Both classes play a significant role again at Wilmot in 2021.
A pair of big Dirt King Late Model events are slated, and Wilmot is proud to host two of their most prestigious events, the Jim “Wildman’ Watson event has become an annual event in September, and now the Dirt Kings “big” Diamond 43 will be contested at Wilmot for the first time too.
The mighty Badger Midgets will return for their annual Harry Turner Classic, and combining them this year with the wingLESS class should create an outstanding open wheel event.
While Wilmot Raceway is known as a Saturday night track, please pay close attention to the schedule as there are some exceptions, including a few Friday’s, a Sunday, and the Tuesday night Fireworks race that proved to be such a success last year.
Other motorsport events happen at Wilmot Raceway too, such as Monster Trucks, and annual County Fair Truck & Tractor Pulls, Combine Demo, and a Demolition Derby. Look for other announcements regarding these special events.
Wilmot Raceway will be announcing a date soon to honor those who accomplished so much in 2020, so please stay tuned….
We have plans to have practices in April, as soon as weather allows. Tech will be open several days, rain or shine in April, as all cars must go through a safety inspection prior to turning a lap, so it’s certainly advantageous to take advantage of those times.
It’s still January, so things are subject to change a little, so please remember that while we hope this schedule is accurate as possible, it is “tentative.”
