WILMOT, Wisc. — July 29, 2017 — If it was up to David Gravel he would race at Wilmot Raceway every week if he could. At least that’s what he jokingly said after winning for the third time in the same number of starts with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Wilmot on Saturday night in the Badger 40. Chris Klemko of Bristol battled back and forth with Rod Colburn of New Berlin throughout much of the caution plagued main. The most serious incident came near the 10-lap mark when fast qualifier Todd Lehr of Kokomo, Indiana spun and collected Jimmy Sivia of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois resulting in Lehr flipping and landing his car upside down. After a week off, the teams of the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association(IRA) prepare to do battle once again, as this weekend features a pair of races. Saturday July 1st the series returns to Wilmot Raceway, then on Sunday July 2nd they head to 141 Speedway. Saturday the IRA returns to its birth place, the Wilmot Raceway. Tim Cox of Park City, Illinois became the third different 20-lap Interstates Racing Association (IRA) wingLESS Sprints feature winner at Wilmot this season. Leading wire to wire Cox held off repeated challenges from Derek Crane of Waukegan, Illinois who finished second and Doug Schenck of Cottage Grove who was third. Schenck earlier set a new track qualifying record of :15.070 seconds for the one-third mile clay oval.
