About Christopher
Chris Walters, the newest driver for Walters Racing, was born March 12, 1979. Chris grew up watching all types of racing with his parents. Some of his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr & Rusty Wallace for NASCAR, John Force for Drag racing & AJ Foyt for Indy car racing. Chris’ grandpa Robert was the first to take him to see a demo derby at the Lake County Fair. His father & a close family friend also built a AMC Matador for a demo one year.
Still being too young to race, he found excitement in building Pinewood Derby cars & soap box race cars for racing in boy scouts. As he grew up he was always racing against the other neighborhood kids on their bikes and mini bikes. When Chris was old enough, in 1997 he bought & built his first demo car. That was all it took, for the next 22 years he never missed a demo derby unless he was unable to get a car. His grandma Harriett was always cheering him on from the stands.
In 1998 Chris met Lisa & in 2001, at the Lake County Fair Demo, he asked her to marry him, they now have 4 wonderful children. Over the years, Chris has managed to pass his love of racing & demo on to all of his children. They have always been involved in building his cars since they were old enough to turn a screw driver. His 2 oldest children have even built & ran their own demo cars. Chris’ oldest son Brandon, our fearless leader at Walters Racing, has decided it is his dad’s turn to join the dirt track racing driver family. In the 2019 Bandit Racing season Chris was Brandon’s Crew Chief.
Chris drove the #79 a stock 1998 Saturn SL2 1.9L Twin Cam during the 2021 Bandit Racing Season at Wilmot Raceway.
Chris will be driving a 2006 Ford Focus 2.0L for the 2022 Bandit Racing Season at Wilmot Raceway
